Medicine is not only a science; it is also an art. It
does not consist of compounding pills and plasters; it deals with the
very processes of life, which must be understood before they may be
guided.
Paracelsus
The word spagyrics is a term first mentioned by Paracelsus in the 16th century derived from the Greek words spao "to separate, release" and ageiro "to reunite, connect". It refers to the step by step process original substances found in plants, minerals, and metals go through to become a final therapeutic remedy. The result of this process is a preparation with the holistic balance of the original substance, as well as the original intelligence and life force of the substance, but with greater focus, intensity, and healing potential. Plants are the most common substance used. They are grown and prepared in consideration of daily and seasonal cycles.
The relationships between emotions, thoughts, hormones, nervous and immune system are complex involving multiple regulatory mechanisms to maintain health and balance. Spagyrics influence these regulation mechanisms, improve communication between cells, and provide the body with the information needed for repair and reorganization.
